Teaching Assistant L2 Reception 1to1 SEND support

Key Stage Teacher Supply is seeking a patient and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream school in Blackburn, working with pupils who require additional support to access learning. 
This is a full time, long term position, supporting a pupil on a one to one basis within a mainstream classroom environment. The role does involve working on a 1:1 basis or with small groups, depending on the needs of the school. 
Experience of working with pupils who have complex needs is a requirement.
The school has a strong focus on inclusive practice and pupil support, with a collaborative staff team and clear support structures in place, making it an excellent opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant looking to develop their experience in a mainstream setting.

SEND Teaching Assistant role requirements: 

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEN TA
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a mainstream school setting
  • Understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language difficulties 
  • Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with pupils 
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills 
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach 
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing 
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply 

 
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will: 

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
  • Adapt learning activities to support different learning styles
  • Support the class teacher in delivering inclusive lessons 
  • Help manage behaviour using consistent and supportive strategies 
  • Encourage engagement, independence and confidence 
  • Work closely with the SENCO, teacher and wider support staff
