Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential?
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Coniston.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a positive difference to students’ education, confidence and overall wellbeing.

About the Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students across the secondary school. You will help create a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring students receive the individual support they need to engage with their learning.
Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting students during lessons and helping them stay focused and engaged.
  • Working with individuals and small groups to support learning and development.
  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and preparation.
  • Providing additional support to students who may require extra help with their learning.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping students develop their confidence and independence.
  • Supporting students with their social and emotional development where required.
  • Building positive and professional relationships with students and staff.
  • Helping to maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Providing encouragement and reassurance to students who may lack confidence.
  • Following individual support plans and school policies where appropriate.

The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about education and supporting young people.
You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, preferably within an educational setting.
  • A patient, positive and supportive approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with students.
  • Confidence working alongside teachers and other school staff.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • A willingness to learn and develop within the role.

Experience as a Teaching Assistant is desirable, but candidates with relevant experience working with young people may also be considered.
