SEND Teacher Training

SEND Course
The SEND training is open to all candidates and provides a basic understanding of SEND, SEND Code of practice, Types of SEND and strategies to support SEND children in the classroom.

Course objectives: 

  • An introduction to Special Educational Needs
  • SEND code of practice and definitions of SEND
  • Commonly used abbreviations
  • Types of SEND – Definition, Behaviour, Strategies

The course is split over two days:

Day 1 covers

  • A basic understanding of SEND
  • SEND Code of practice,
  • SEND abbreviations
  • SpLD – Specific Learning Difficulties including; Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and ADHD – Strategies for the classroom

Day 2 covers –
Strategies for classroom will be covered with each area:

  • SEMH – social emotional and mental health
  • ASD/ASC – Autistic spectrum disorder / autistic spectrum condition
  • PMLD – Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties
  • G&T – Gifted and talented students
