Job Description

One of our local community primary schools in the Walton-le dale area, are looking to recruit a proactive and supportive Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming team, this role is to support in a SEN room, working with KS1 childrern who have EHCPs. the school is looking for someone who is confident, calm and consistent with behaviour management. You will work under the direction of a full-time HLTA and alongside the SENCO, so being able to take direction and work as part of a team is important.
The school has a strong focus on inclusive learning and pupil development, with a supportive staff team and a positive learning environment, making it an excellent opportunity for a Primary Teaching Assistant looking to develop their experience in a school setting, this role is for September with potential to extend into October.

Primary Teaching Assistant role requirements: 

• Previous experience working with children or young people (school-based desirable)
  • Experience supporting pupils within a primary school setting
  • Understanding of the primary curriculum within KS1 and adapting as required for the pupils learning needs 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • A patient, proactive and supportive approach 
  • Ability to work as part of a team 
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing 
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply 

 
The successful Primary Teaching Assistant will: 

• Support pupils and have an understanding and experience of supporting pupils who have SEND needs
  • Assist the teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities
  • Encourage pupil engagement and participation 
  • Support behaviour management using positive strategies 
  • Help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment 
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
