  • Using effective de-escalation and behaviour management techniques to prevent situations from escalating.
  • Building positive, professional relationships with students and acting as a consistent and trusted adult.
  • Supporting students to understand and take responsibility for their behaviour.
  • Helping students return to lessons following incidents and supporting successful reintegration.

  • Supporting the school’s behaviour policies, expectations and routines.
  • Monitoring student behaviour and providing appropriate feedback to pastoral and teaching teams.
  • Working with staff to identify triggers and develop appropriate strategies to support individual students.
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.
  • Assisting with interventions designed to improve behaviour, attendance, engagement and wellbeing.
  • Maintaining accurate records of incidents, interventions and student progress.
  • Supporting safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns appropriately.
  • Helping maintain a calm, safe and positive environment throughout the school.
  • Supporting the wider pastoral team with duties as required.

Their representative, Emma Linton, has been incredibly detailed in her search for appropriate staff for us and has sourced high quality professionals that, in some cases, have moved over to become permanent members of our team. Emma visited each site at college so that she was able to provide the right people for the right roles required. Her passion for SEND shines and she is totally person focussed and strives to provide the best service for young disabled people. Emma shares the same values of our college and understands that high quality teachers and learning support are vital in raising expectation and delivering high quality learning experiences to young people with SEND. We are very happy working with Key Stage supply agency. Our consultant Ed Belshaw always provides us with a friendly and professionally bespoke support. I really appreciate Ed’s efficient follow-through process of administration from the point of confirming supply to providing us with DBS check details. Oh and then there is the recently introduced electronic authorisation of the staff timesheets which also gives you the cost of how much the invoice will be. I can only thank you for the service you have provided for St Stephen’s in Burnley over a period of more than five years. The staff at Key Stage are always efficient and polite and “know our school’s requirements”.

I can only thank you for the service you have provided for St Stephen’s in Burnley over a period of more than five years. The staff at Key Stage are always efficient and polite and “know our school’s requirements” i.e. if we have a preference for certain supply teachers, they are considered first to fill any absence. This gives a more personal service, which we do appreciate. We do consider newly qualified teachers and will give feedback if we don’t think that person was appropriate for our school – I hope this feedback is helpful to you. The teachers you send us are all DBS/qualification checked and clearance for new teachers is forwarded promptly.

Following an initial meeting with our consultant, we have not only been sent good quality teachers, but staff that compliment our teaching and behaviour strategy.

We have been working closely with Key Stage for the past 8 months and have been impressed by the consistent standard of the supply teachers. Following an initial meeting with our consultant, we have not only been sent good quality teachers, but staff that compliment our teaching and behaviour strategy. I have been able to phone an on call consultant in the evening, giving our school peace of mind that there will be cover from the beginning of the day.
