Overseas Trained Teachers

We welcome the opportunity to work with overseas Trained Teachers. Not only is it a valuable experience for the pupils to encounter different cultures but also for you to learn more about the British National Curriculum and method of teaching.

We employ teachers who are overseas born/trained/citizerns providing that they are already in the UK and have the necessary documentation.

  • Translation of Qualifications – completed by UK NARIC
  • Valid work visa – if applicable
  • Identification/Proof of eligibility to work – We need to see at least two of the following: Valid Passport,Birth Certificate,Driving Licence,Marriage Certificate (if your name has changed since qualifying we need to see this)/NI card.
  • GTC registration www.gtce.org.uk
  • Overseas Police check/ Certificate of Good Conduct – if you have been in the UK for less than 3 months
  • CRB Disclosure Enhanced Disclosure with Current Enhanced CRB– We are only able to accept an Enhanced Disclosure that is 12 months old or less. If this is not applicable, there will be a charge of £36.00 for the processing of the CRB, of which £18.00 will be refunded after 15 days of working within your first academic year.
  • Names and addresses of referees – It is a requirement to cover your work/ academic and gaps of employment over the last 5 years. At least 2 references must be either your last school/employer or work placement and if you are a NQT, your last 2 school placements. Another reference may be a character reference of someone that has known you over 5 years and cannot be a relative or immediate family member. If you undertake any outside activities such as Cubs, Scouts or Brownies, we will also need to obtain a further reference from the organisation. It is important that we are able to obtain these references within 2 weeks, so please advise your referees prior to us applying for them.

You will be invited along to your nearest branch for a face-to-face interview where by you will be offered guidance and advice on further training if necessary.
